Frequently Asked Questions
Do I already have to know how to draw?
Yes, it helps if you know which side of a pencil you draw with, and which side you erase with, but even this can be learned, fear not.
Can I take photos of the session?
you are welcome to take pictures of your work, and the space, but make sure you tell the model, and be absolutely sure to crop them out of the image. Don’t forget to tag us on instagram!
How do I join?
Come to one of our practices! Speak to any exec and they will direct you to our events page on Bounce.
Everyone MUST sign an AMS membership waiver. If you are under 19 years of age, a parent guardian must sign as well. It can be signed in person at your first practice, or you can message us to fill it out before you arrive. We DO NOT have paper copies.
Can I bring food to share?
yes! if everyone, or even a few people bring some snacks, it helps everyone focus on drawing. We try to make a big pot of tea for everyone in the winter.
Where and when are practices?
in 2025, we’re running bi-weekly sessions, but will be doing a weekly session in 2026. Our sessions always take place on Fridays, from 2-5pm, in the Dorothy Somerset studio, room 107.
Why is the schedule not updated?
If the schedule is not updated for the next two weeks or next month, it is because we’ve forgotten! Ask one of our exec.
Do I need to stay for the entire practice?
Our sessions run for 3 hours, you don’t have to stay for the entire duration
What material is provided?
We provide 5 large sheets of newsprint. To try to reduce our expenses, please try drawing on both sides of our provided paper, or bring your own sketchbook.
